The Martinez Family has ranched in the Taos Valley for 8 generations. Irrigated pastures in the Taos Valley provide hay for winter feed during the summer and pasture for the cattle from the Fall through the Spring. The cattle are primarily Angus with some Hereford and Gelvieh influence to produce the flavorful beef that we harvest for our own families.
Calves are born in the spring on the meadows of Lower Ranchitos followed by summer grazing in the lush mountains pastures east of Taos, NM. Spring calves will typically average ~ 600lbs live weight by October. Yearling calves spend the summer on the lush meadows in Lower Ranchitos and will average ~1200lbs live weight by October. We have never used hormones or antibiotics to promote growth for our animals. We believe in managing our cattle under low stress conditions to promote the best environment for quality growth and development.
